Welcome to our Recipes With No Food Rules Series, where we celebrate the joy of intuitive eating and wholesome meals that nourish both the body and soul without the food rules

We are not saying you can’t have real icecream for breakfast however this recipe offers more of a balanced approach to help keep you fuller for longer! As a dietitian who practices from an intuitive eating and anti-diet perspective, I love creating recipes that make eating feel joyful, flexible, and stress-free.

This recipe is all about honoring satisfaction while also checking in with your body’s needs. It’s not about creating the “perfect” breakfast or restricting ingredients, but rather about enjoying food in a way that feels good physically and emotionally.

Why This Recipe Works

  • Satisfaction factor: It feels like a sundae, but it’s made with creamy yogurt, fruit, and fun toppings. Food is meant to be enjoyed!

  • Flexibility: The toppings are totally customizable—add what sounds good to you in the moment. Some days you may want granola and nuts for crunch; other days, maybe chocolate chips and coconut flakes hit the spot.

  • Balance without rules: This recipe gives you a mix of carbs, protein, and fats, but you don’t have to overthink it. You might find that pairing it with a slice of toast with nut butter or a boiled egg makes it feel more filling and energizing for breakfast.

Intuitive Eating Lens

Sometimes breakfast looks like a smoothie bowl, other times it’s a bagel with cream cheese, and sometimes it’s this sundae-style creation. All foods fit. The key is checking in with your hunger, satisfaction, and energy needs and not sticking to rigid food rules. This fun recipe can be enjoyed as:

  • Breakfast

  • Snack

  • Dessert: Add a drizzle of chocolate or caramel sauce and really lean into the sundae vibe.
